As a kid, I played the original Chicken Invaders, so, after buying Chicken Invaders 2 on steam, got this one, too. And I was blown away. The computer effects for this one are just amazing, and are so different from the one I played as a kid - this game still has that fun, old-school feel to it, but the graphics have definitely improved, and makes this game feel modern, at the same time, which just makes Chicken Invaders 3 all the more fun! :DOne thing I really like is that the difficulty for this one is much easier than Chicken Invaders 2. The difficulty of the majority of levels in this one are much easier and fun to play - not too easy, which makes it fun, but not too hard to be really frustrating; unlike Chicken Invaders 2, because, in that game, the levels already start getting too hard by the Asteroid Belt level, only about halfway into the game. But in this game, I can play all the way up to the Meteor Storm level, which is very far into the story, just about at the end of the game (there's only 2 levels after that, but they are HARD!!). The Meteor Storm level is REALLY hard, because, with each wave in that level, the red meteors fly at you from different directions, and go faster and faster, until it's almost as fast as the eye can blink, so that's the level where I stop progressing in the story, cause it gets too hard and frustrating from there. A lot of people bash other people for saying this game, and any other Chicken Invader games, are hard (like "you're mad cause you're bad, get good), which is just uncalled for, because it's easy for anyone to die in this game, that's the kind of game this is. Trust me, I got through the whole story 3 times, including the last level, but I only just managed to pass the last level each time by the skin of my teeth, it's that hard. The last level is extremely unpleasant and frustrating to do, because there are so many waves you have to get through just to get to the boss, and they're REALLY hard, so it's very easy to have lost lives by the time you finally get to the boss. I only did it in Rookie difficulty 3 times to unlock the 3 Rookie unlockables (each time you finish the story in a difficulty mode, you unlock something; there are 3 rookie unlockables, 3 veteran unlockables, and 1 super hero unlockable, the hardest difficulty). Rookie difficulty (at least the last 3 levels in that difficulty) are extremely hard, and Veteran and Superstar Hero difficulites are even harder than that, so they're not worth playing, then. The producers of this game really should have toned down the difficulty in Rookie difficulty, at least, because it shouldn't be as hard as expert difficulty. And another thing? What's going on with the bonus levels in this game? The bonus levels have huge, medium or small chests that, when shot, give you coins, power-ups or different weapons. But you can't run into them, you can only shoot them, because they can kill you???? They start falling slowly in the first couple levels, but then they get faster and faster throughout the story, until it's almost impossible to get through bonus levels without dying at least once. These are bonus chests, not meteors, I think this is unnecessary, because there are already levels where meteors fly at you. Bonus levels should be a place to relax, have a quick breather from the normal levels, where you can die from chickens and meteors :D If all the levels in this game had been as hard as the last 3 levels, I wouldn't have recommended Chicken Invaders 3. But, luckily, all the levels before that red meteor level, (and there's a lot of them), are a blast! After I beat the last level, I just went straight back and played the earlier levels again, they're so fun :D It would have been nice if all the levels had been easier and more fun, though.I can't believe the types of weapons you can use in this game, it's just epic! :D A lot of different lasers: A huge golden one that, when fully powered, can kill up to 4 or 5 chickens at a time, a huge; a huge, wavy magenta one that can kill chickens instantly, no matter how high their health is. Has the quickest overheat time, but is by far the most lethal weapon in the game, definitely a game changer :D; and a a colossal electrical one that splits into two lasers, and shoots upwards in both directions (left and right), which covers a huge area, and can wipe out whole waves in seconds :D Not to mention one that fires like a machine gun, and more really fun weapons :DAnd the soundtrack for this game is just amazing - a beautiful twist of orchestra combined with really catchy hardcore beats (at times, the hardcore beat cuts out, and then it's just orchestra, it's really beautiful). As soon as I heard the soundtracks in the first 1 or 2 levels, and heard the soundtrack, it gave me goosebumps, and I couldn't help humming and bopping along with it (along with frying chickens into drumsticks :D). My favourite one is the one called The Unknown, that soundtrack is so beautiful and catchy at the same time. What's really cool is that the soundtracks change with each level, depending on which level you're doing, it doesn't just keep playing the same soundtrack with every level. The soundtrack of this game actually sounds a lot like the soundtrack from Treasure Planet, on PS1, which was a great game that also had awesome soundtrack.I also really like that there was narrative text in this, which made the story really funny, and just made me love this game even more. And that the drumsticks are easier to collect. In Chicken Invaders 2, the drumsticks are pretty tiny, and only bounce once when they hit the bottom of the screen, then you can't reach them anymore. But in this one, the drumsticks are noticeably larger, and are much easier to collect, not just because of their size, but also because they don't fall as fast, and bounce at least 2 times when they hit the bottom of the screen. The only fault I can find with this game is that the difficulty modes for this game are poorly managed - Rookie difficulty shouldn't be anywhere near as hard as it is; the last 3 levels should have been much easier, and the difficulty for Rookie toned down by a big amount. I also don't like that you're pressured to do Veteran and Superstar Hero mode to unlock more unlockables, when Rookie difficulty (the last 3 levels in that difficulty, anyway) was already extremely hard. But apart from that, I love this game, because the majority of the levels are easy and fun, and it's become my favourite game I have on steam. I can't wait to see what Chicken Invaders 4teh one is like (I did a bit of research on the 5th one, and I would STRONGLY recommend not to get that one, because you have to go to an oracle that consults with a crystal ball, which is satanic) Anyway, as for this game, 9\/10!
